CE, EURO II and EURO V on outdoor power equipment: what they mean
By the Arbora export team. Published . 5 min read.

What does CE cover on garden machinery?
For outdoor power equipment, CE marking typically relates to machinery safety, electromagnetic compatibility and noise rules. The manufacturer or importer issues a declaration of conformity, often backed by a test report from a laboratory.
What are EURO II and EURO V on small engines?
They describe how much exhaust pollution a small non-road engine may emit. Stage V is the current EU level and is stricter than Stage II. Many product listings write them as "EURO II" or "EURO V".
Which markets ask for what?
- European Union and EEA: CE and Stage V for new engines placed on the market.
- Other markets: requirements vary. Some accept CE documents as supporting evidence; others have their own standards. Check with your customs broker.
What should I ask my supplier for?
- The certificate and test report, with model numbers that match your order.
- Confirmation that the engine in your order is the certified version.
- Correct labels: CE mark, emissions label and serial numbers where required.
